Luba Dalcolmo is an artist and designer. She studied at the Royal Academy of Art in Mechelen, Belgium and the Art Institute of Boston, USA. Her works have been exhibited in Germany, UK, Netherlands, France and USA. She first opened her studio in 2007 which became the Luba Dalcolmo Studio & Gallery in 2015. The studio gallery is where the magic happens.
Luba takes her art abroad to various international art fairs. She counts many artists among her influences which include Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso as well as Vincent Van Gogh.
While developing her style as a painter, Luba Dalcolmo became inspired by abstract expressionism. Communicating her thoughts through colours has become the key driving force behind her work. Her works consist of a range of media such as acrylic and/ or mixed media on canvas, paper or cardboard. The artist takes her perceptions of the world around her and distills these into colours in the form of brush strokes of various size and shape. She is inspired by emotions, seasons, landscapes and countries. Dalcolmo’s use of brush strokes is reminiscent of the technique applied in Impressionist painting while her choice of bright colours communicates passion, happiness and optimism. The selected artworks illustrate a transformation of ideas over time.
